Terms & Conditions

Your files, your rights

You retain every right to every file you process with DukPdf. We don't claim ownership of your content, we don't analyse it, and we never see it in the first place — file processing happens on your device, not ours. These Terms cover the rest: accounts, paid plans, fair use, and who is responsible for what.

1. Who we are, and your agreement with us

DukPdf is operated by Satyam Tiwari, an independent software developer based in India (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the DukPdf website, web app, and desktop app (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms; if you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. Purchases require you to be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (typically 18), or to have a parent or guardian's permission.

This version replaces the April 23, 2026 Terms. What changed: the Terms now cover the paid Pro and Lifetime plans (which are live), billing, cancellation and refunds, the desktop app, and governing law.

2. The Service

DukPdf provides 25+ tools for working with PDF files — merging, splitting, compressing, converting, signing, redacting, and more — as a web app and a desktop app for macOS and Windows. All file processing happens on your device: in your browser using WebAssembly, or natively inside the desktop app. Our servers do not receive, process, or store your file content. See our Privacy Policy and Security pages for details.

The Service has a free tier plus paid plans: a Pro subscription (monthly or yearly) and a one-time Lifetime plan. What each plan includes, and its price, is shown at purchase time.

3. Accounts

Most tools work without an account. You need one for paid plans and account-specific features. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current information when creating your account.
  • Keep your password confidential and notify us of any unauthorised access.
  • Be responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • Use one account per person — accounts are not transferable.

You may delete your account at any time by emailing support@dukpdf.com.

4. Paid plans, billing, and renewal

All purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record— the authorized reseller that charges your payment method, calculates and remits applicable taxes, and issues your invoice. Dodo's buyer terms apply to the payment transaction itself; these Terms govern your use of DukPdf.

  • Auto-renewal. Pro subscriptions renew automatically — monthly or yearly, as chosen — at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. The charge amount and renewal date are shown before you buy and on your plan page afterwards.
  • Cancelling. Cancel any time from your plan page, the Dodo billing portal, or by email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period: you keep Pro access until then and are not charged again.
  • Price changes. If we change subscription pricing, we will email you at least 14 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before the new price applies. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
  • Refunds. Every plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee, on top of your statutory rights — see the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

5. The Lifetime plan

The Lifetime plan is a one-time payment that unlocks Pro features for the lifetime of the DukPdf product — meaning for as long as we offer DukPdf — not the lifetime of any person. To be precise about what that means:

  • It includes the Pro features of the web and desktop apps, updates to them, and new tools we add to the standard DukPdf offering. It does not automatically include products we may later launch as separate offerings.
  • When the deal is shown as limited to a number of spots, that count is real — it reflects an actual inventory we maintain.
  • Lifetime access is personal and non-transferable — though it moves with DukPdf itself if the business changes hands (see “Assignment” in section 19).
  • If we ever discontinue DukPdf, we will give Lifetime holders reasonable advance notice — at least 6 months where circumstances allow — and because the desktop app processes files locally, installed versions will keep working to the extent they don't depend on our servers.

6. Free tier and fair-use limits

The free tier is genuinely useful and genuinely free — with limits that keep it sustainable:

  • Per-file limits. Each tool has limits on file size, page count, and files per batch so the browser can keep up with large or complex files. They're shown on each tool's upload area.
  • Free conversion caps. The web free tier includes a capped number of conversions per tool per hour — currently up to 10 per tool, with lower caps on a few high-demand tools; the exact number is shown in the app as you approach it. The desktop app includes a limited free trial (currently 5 conversions). Paid plans remove these caps.
  • Changes. We may adjust free-tier limits as we tune the Service; the current limits are always visible in the app before you hit them. Paid-plan entitlements are not reduced mid-term.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to process content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or infringes someone else's rights.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service, except where such restrictions are prohibited by law.
  • Use the Service, its outputs, or any scraped content to train machine-learning models without our prior written permission.
  • Circumvent usage limits, share a single account across multiple people, or automate abuse of the Service.
  • Probe, scan, or attempt to breach the security of the Service.
  • Use the Service in violation of applicable export-control or sanctions laws.

8. Your content

You retain all rights to every file you process with DukPdf. We do not claim ownership, and we do not access, copy, or analyse your files. Processing happens on your device — we couldn't see your files even if we wanted to.

You are responsible for having the legal right to process any file you use with the Service. DukPdf is a tool; responsibility for the content sits with you.

9. Check your results before relying on them

DukPdf's tools transform documents on your device, and you are the only one who can see the result — so please verify it before relying on it. This matters most for:

  • Redaction.Always open the redacted output and confirm everything you meant to remove is gone — including by searching the document's text — before sharing it. Redaction of sensitive material deserves a careful second look.
  • OCR. Recognized text can contain errors, especially on low-quality scans. Proofread before using it anywhere it matters.
  • Conversions. Converted documents can differ from the original in layout or formatting. Review the output.

And always keep a copy of your original file. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for the consequences of relying on an output you did not verify — though nothing in this section limits the rights consumer law gives you (see sections 13–15).

10. The desktop app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the DukPdf desktop app on devices you control, subject to these Terms. A few desktop specifics:

  • Updates. The app checks for and offers updates automatically. We may require an update before the app continues — or, in serious cases, remotely disable an old version — when needed to fix a security issue or prevent harm. We use this sparingly and only for safety.
  • On-demand components. Some features download open-source components on first use (LibreOffice for Office-to-PDF, OCR language data). They are covered by their own licenses — see Open Source Licenses.
  • System requirements. Currently macOS 11 or later, and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). Requirements may rise over time as operating systems evolve.

11. Third-party services

We use a small set of named service providers to run DukPdf — payments (Dodo Payments, as merchant of record), authentication and data (Supabase), hosting (Vercel), email (Resend), error monitoring (Sentry), and opt-in analytics and ad-click measurement (Google) — each described in our Privacy Policy. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their parts of the Service. None of them receive your file data, because we don't have it.

12. Intellectual property

The Service — its code, design, brand, and trademarks — is owned by the operator of DukPdf. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks or branding except as needed to use the Service. Open-source components are credited on the Open Source Licenses page and remain under their own licenses.

Your files and any content you create using the Service remain entirely yours. If you believe content on our website infringes your intellectual property (we host no user files, so this can only concern our own pages), email support@dukpdf.com with the details and we will respond promptly.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make reasonable efforts to keep it available and working correctly, but we don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. You are responsible for backing up your original files — we recommend keeping a copy of any important file before running it through any PDF tool, ours or anyone else's.

This section does not exclude anything that cannot lawfully be excluded. In particular, if you are a UK consumer, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described, and you keep the remedies the Consumer Rights Act 2015 provides.

14. Australian Consumer Law

If you are a consumer in Australia: our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies those guarantees or any other right or remedy you have under law that cannot be excluded. For a major failure with the Service, you are entitled to cancel and receive a refund for the unused portion, or compensation for its reduced value; for other failures, you are entitled to have the problem fixed within a reasonable time.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, if any, or (b) USD 100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — including the consumer guarantees and remedies described in sections 13 and 14.

16. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms (for example, the acceptable-use rules), giving you reasonable notice and a chance to respond except in cases of serious abuse or legal necessity.

If we terminate for your material breach, fees already paid for the current period are not refunded except where the law says otherwise. If we ever discontinue the Service itself, the Lifetime notice commitment in section 5 and your statutory refund rights apply.

17. Changes to the Service and these Terms

DukPdf evolves — tools improve, limits get tuned, features ship. We may update these Terms as the Service changes. For material changes we will email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect, and if you don't agree with a change you can cancel; where a paid period is affected, you'll receive a pro-rated refund. A change never reduces what you already paid for in the current period.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them — except that if you are a consumer, you always keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live (including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia), and you may bring claims in your local courts where those laws give you that right. Nothing in this section takes away rights your local law says cannot be taken away.

Before anything formal: email support@dukpdf.com. We commit to trying to resolve any dispute in good faith through direct communication first — it's faster for everyone. These Terms deliberately contain no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver.

19. General

  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them as part of a sale or reorganization of DukPdf — in which case your plan, including Lifetime access, carries over to the new operator on the same terms.
  • Notices. We send legal notices to your account email address; you can send them to support@dukpdf.com.
  • No waiver. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Refund & Cancellation Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • Survival. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including your content rights, disclaimers, liability limits, and governing law — remain in effect.
