Crop a PDF

How to Crop a PDF

1

Add your PDF

Click “Select file” or drag and drop a PDF. The first page renders with a draggable crop box overlay.

2

Adjust the crop box

Drag the edges or corners of the crop box to set the visible area. Use the “Apply to all pages” toggle to copy the same crop across every page, or crop pages individually.

3

Crop and download

Click “Crop”. The cropped PDF is generated in your browser and downloads automatically. Original file is unchanged.

Every step runs in your browser. No server uploads, no waiting.

Why use this tool

DukPdf’s Crop PDF tool trims margins, removes headers and footers, and resizes page bounds. Drag a crop box visually on each page, or apply the same crop to all pages at once. All cropping runs in your browser using PDF.js — your file never leaves your device. To rotate pages before cropping, use Rotate PDF first. For more granular page-level edits, use Edit PDF. For a step-by-step guide, see our crop PDF guide.

When you'd use this

Crop out the page numbers, running headers, and footnotes that bleed into the content area of every page.

E-reader formatting

Resize PDF pages to fit a Kindle, Kobo, or phone screen by trimming large margins and resizing the page bounds.

Print prep

Crop scanned book pages to remove the binding shadow and edge artifacts before printing or archiving.

Focus on a chart

Crop a single chart or diagram out of a multi-element report page so it stands alone when shared.

Crop PDF — questions

Can I crop pages individually?

Yes. By default the same crop applies to all pages, but you can switch to “Crop per page” mode and adjust each page independently. The first page opens in the editor; navigate using the page list to crop others.

Does cropping change the page size?

You choose. “Trim content” hides content outside the crop box but keeps the original page size. “Resize page” actually changes the page dimensions to match the crop box. Use resize for e-readers and print; use trim when you want to hide content but keep the layout.

Will cropping reduce image quality?

No. Cropping only changes which portion of the page is visible. Underlying images, fonts, and vector graphics are unchanged. The cropped area is not re-rendered.

Can I crop password-protected PDFs?

Yes. You’ll be prompted for the password before cropping starts. The cropped output is saved without the password.

Is my PDF uploaded during cropping?

No. Cropping runs in your browser using PDF.js. Your file is read, cropped, and saved without a single network request carrying your content.

What’s the difference between Crop and Edit?

Crop permanently changes the visible page area (great for trimming margins or hiding content). Edit adds new layers on top of the original (great for adding text, shapes, or annotations). Use Crop to remove; use Edit to add.
