Is 300KB per image or per file?

Per image. Each page of the PDF becomes its own JPG, and each is measured separately against the target.

Should I use 300KB or 200KB?

Use whichever your form asks for. If it does not say, 200KB is the safer default — most systems that impose a limit at all put it at or above that.

My page is already under 300KB. Does anything change?

No. The search starts at full quality, so a page that already fits is exported exactly as it would be with no target set. The limit only bites when it has to.

Is 300KB the same as 300 DPI?

No, and the two are easy to confuse. KB is how large the file is; DPI is how much detail it holds. If you need print resolution rather than a small file, use PDF to JPG at 300 DPI instead.

What if only one page in my PDF is too big?

Only that page is compressed further. Every page is measured on its own, so a text page sitting next to a photo page keeps its full quality.
