PDF to PNG under 2MB

How to Convert PDF to PNG

1

Add your PDF

Click “Select files” or drag a PDF in. The 2MB target is already selected from this page.

2

Check the target

2MB per image is preselected. This rung exists for maximum detail under a cap — if you want small files instead, pick a lower rung from the same row.

3

Convert and download

Click “Convert to PNG”. High-resolution lossless rendering is heavier than the default, so a long document takes noticeably longer — each image lists its final size.

Every step runs in your browser. No server uploads, no waiting.

Why use this tool

This page converts each PDF page to a PNG and keeps every image under 2MB. Two megabytes is the budget to pick when you want resolution: it is where a high-DPI render and an upload limit can actually meet. A full A4 page at 300 DPI is roughly 8.7 million pixels and lands at several megabytes as a lossless PNG — over this cap — so the search settles each page at the highest dimensions that stay under 2MB, which is typically far above what a default export gives you. Unlike the smaller rungs, this one is about maximising detail under a ceiling rather than making files small. The cap binds each page’s image separately. If nothing you use enforces a limit, PDF to PNG at 300 DPI drops the cap and renders at print resolution outright; if your target is much smaller, start at PDF to PNG under 200KB instead.

When you'd use this

Print-ready with a cap

Pages headed for print via a portal that still enforces an upload limit — the most detail that fits 2MB.

Zoomable exhibits

Documents presented on screen — evidence, artwork, floor plans — where viewers zoom in and pixelation would undermine them.

High-DPI displays

Images that must stay sharp on Retina and 4K screens need roughly double the pixels; 2MB gives PNG room for them.

Publication graphics

Figures and pages submitted to journals or printers that ask for high-resolution images but cap the per-file size.

PDF to PNG β€” questions

How much resolution does 2MB buy?

Content decides. A clean text page compresses so well losslessly that 2MB can hold it at the renderer’s full scale; a photographic page might settle around 150–200 DPI equivalent. Whatever the page, the search keeps the largest dimensions that fit and shows the resulting size.

Why not just use the 300 DPI page?

Use it when nothing limits your file size — it renders print resolution unconditionally, and a page can come out at 5MB or more. This page exists for the other case: as much detail as possible while every image is guaranteed to clear a 2MB gate.

Does a 2MB PNG beat a 2MB JPG?

They serve different pages. The PNG is pixel-exact — ideal for text, line art and UI — while a 2MB JPG can afford higher dimensions on photographs by spending its budget on near-invisible quality loss. For document pages, exactness usually wins.

Will every page hit 2MB?

No — most land well under. 2MB is a ceiling, not a goal: a page is rendered at the largest dimensions that fit, and a simple page simply does not need the whole budget.

Is there a resolution limit above this?

The renderer caps any image at 8192 pixels on its longest side (about 700 DPI on A4), regardless of the byte budget. Within 2MB you are unlikely to reach it except on very small page sizes.
