PDF to PNG under 500KB

How to Convert PDF to PNG

1

Add your PDF

Click “Select files” or drag a PDF in. The 500KB target is already applied.

2

Keep or adjust the ceiling

500KB per image is preselected. Drop to 200KB if your form asks for it, or choose “No limit” for the largest, sharpest export.

3

Convert and download

Click “Convert to PNG”. Multi-page results download as a single ZIP, and each image is listed with its size.

Every step runs in your browser. No server uploads, no waiting.

Why use this tool

This page converts each PDF page to a PNG and keeps every image under 500KB. Half a megabyte is a comfortable budget for a lossless image. Text pages, tables, diagrams and most mixed pages export at full size and are never touched, because the search starts at full dimensions and only steps down when it has to. That matters more for PNG than for JPG: a page that fits is bit-for-bit the page you would get with no target at all. It is also the right rung for detailed technical drawings, where reducing the dimensions is what destroys thin lines. Only heavily photographic pages need to shrink here. For those, PDF to JPG gives a much better result per byte. See the PDF to PNG guide for the full picture.

When you'd use this

Technical drawings

Floor plans and schematics keep every hairline intact, which is exactly what downscaling to a tighter target would destroy.

Document management systems

Records portals that accept generous per-page uploads and want the crispest copy you can give them.

Retina and high-DPI displays

Enough pixels that the page still looks sharp on a modern screen rather than softening when scaled up.

Print-ready proofs at screen size

A middle ground between a small web export and a full 300 DPI render measured in megabytes.

PDF to PNG β€” questions

My page is already under 500KB. Does anything change?

No, and for a lossless format that is worth stating plainly: the export is bit-for-bit identical to what you would get with no target set. The limit only takes effect when a page exceeds it.

Is 500KB enough for a detailed drawing?

Usually, yes. Line art is mostly flat colour, which PNG compresses hard, so even a dense schematic often lands well under 500KB at full size with every stroke intact.

Should I use 500KB or 200KB?

Whichever your form asks for. If it does not say, 500KB keeps more pages at full size, and 200KB is the safer choice when there is any chance of a limit you have not been told about.

What if only one page is over the limit?

Only that page is reduced. Every page is measured on its own, so a text page beside a photo page keeps its full dimensions.

Is 500KB the same as 500 DPI?

No. KB is the file size; DPI is how much detail the page holds. If you need print resolution rather than a small file, use PDF to PNG at 300 DPI instead.
